Jubilee for Kramies after the tournament victory in Munich: We are back in the flow

At the ATP tournament in Munich, the German Double Krawietz/Mies succeeds in winning the second victory.

Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies enjoyed their victory with relish. After the match ball, they tore their arms up, then they encouraged the enthusiastic audience on the Center Court of the MTTC Iphitos with a grin to the common "wave". "A cool week, we're back in the flow, it makes you feel like it," said Krawietz, who described the triumph in front of friends and relatives in Munich as "something very extraordinary".

After the Cologne Oscar Otte missed the first final of his career on the ATP tour, the two-time winners of the French Open celebrated their sixth joint title. As a reward for the 4: 6, 6: 4, 10: 7 against Rafael Matos/David Vega Hernandez (Brazil/Spain), there was a prize money of 28,250 euros. "We really wanted it," said Mies, "I am relieved that we did it."

Krawietz/Mies are indeed in the flow three weeks before the beginning of the French Open (from May 22nd). A week ago they won the well -occupied tournament in Barcelona. Mies described this as "great liberation" after mixed months that the Cologne resident had suffered from a Corona disease. "I couldn't train properly for six weeks," he reported that "a lot of frustration had built up".

Krawietz had already won in Munich last year alongside the Wesley Koolhof. With standard partner Mies, he made the embarrassing early departure from Alexander Zverev in the round of 16. The plan to take Barcelona as a "booster" went fully, "Kramies" now want to take the momentum into the Masters in Madrid and Rome before going to Paris.

Munich: Holger Rune wins single

Sunday almost had become a final day of a Cologne city championship with international participation - the until then so good and entertaining Otte but experienced a break -in in the semi -finals. Against Holger Rune from Denmark, who had switched off the Zverev number one, the Cologne team was 4-1 in the lead - then suddenly his stomach went on strike, he lost 4: 6, 4: 6.

Rune's final opponent Botic van de Zandschulp got it worse. The Dutchman had to give up in the final at 4: 3 and 15:40 - he seemed to have pain in the chest and obviously felt uncomfortable. The 19 -year -old rune received prize money of 81,310 euros and a car for the first victory of a Danes on the ATP tour since Kenneth Carlsen in Memphis/USA - however, he still has no driver's license.

Otte had been given a tablet the day before because of his complaints, but he still felt "as if someone had pulled the plug". The chance to move into a final after his first semi-finals on the ATP tour was there, so the 28-year-old understandably had "a thick neck". After all, on Monday he will be in 52th place in the world rankings, almost never.
